Martin Bencher Poland has successfully accomplished the delivery of two shipments of each 4 knocked-down ASC cranes from Shanghai to ECT Delta terminal in Rotterdam. The cargo was a total of 3,418 cbm.
Thanks to good teamwork between Martin Bencher offices, communication went smooth throughout the shipment. Martin Bencher offices in China and Poland assisted locally with communication with suppliers as well as with port handling personnel.
This shipment was especially interesting as the port of discharge was not yet certified for handling heavy cargo. Consequently the units had to be discharged by vessels cranes on the 2nd lane - which was 25 m away from the vessel's side.
The cargo was therefore discharged using a vessel with heavy cranes located on the side of the ship which had up to 32 m outreach. The most difficult units were the main girders - 4 pcs each, measuring 24.6 x 4.2 x 4.0 m and weighing 51 tons. These units had to be discharged with two ship heavy cranes working simultaneously. Nice cargo indeed!
